Evie’s Squad
The start of February is a very busy time for us (hence the lack of blogging) as it consists of my birthday, Evie’s birthday and a few of Evie’s best friends’s birthdays. Evelyn also has been going to physio four days a week in addition to all the fun events we have been attending. Needless to say, it has been busy! The time has flown and we leave for St. Louis in 11 sleepies (yes, I still do these types of countdowns)!
I have been meaning to write this post for a few weeks now. We are still blown away by all the support we have received and continue to receive and again, thank you! So many nice things have happened including people asking for donations in lieu of birthday, retirement and Christmas gifts. There have been collections at work places, commission sales donated and even a quilt raffle! This post is to showcase some of the fundraising initiatives that others took upon themselves in order to help our journey.
Little Lucas
A friend of mine from middle school recently celebrated her son’s 1st birthday at the beginning of January. Sarah and I have not lived close to each other for almost 20 years but we have always stayed in touch. After learning about Evelyn’s journey, her and her husband decided that in lieu of gifts for their adorable baby boy’s birthday, they would ask for donations to go toward Evelyn’s SDR costs. In total, they collected $700 for Evelyn through online donations as well as at his birthday party. Even a few older kids who attended the party brought their own money so they could help Evelyn and they didn’t even know her. How sweet is that!? Lucas is only one but is already making a difference. Thank you Lucas and family!
Perfect Pies
Brian’s cousin Amy is a woman of many talents! One thing she can do is bake beautiful and delicious pies!! She donated her bake sale earnings as well as collected donations from other members of her community who wanted to help us out. Over $350 was raised! Amazing!
Cards For Evelyn
My lovely gal pals Victoria and Christine each held card fundraisers at their places of work and donated 100% of their sales to our fund by selling adorable cards. They were able to raise over $100 in a short period of time. Thank you ladies!!
Alex’s Beer Pong Tourney
Evie has some pretty cool uncles and her youngest uncle, Uncle Alex, is a student at the University of Guelph. He was actually at the hospital the day she was born and was the first uncle to meet her! Alex wanted to do something to help with Evie’s journey so he organized a Beer Pong Tournament for his friends at school. What better way for university students to raise money!? It sounded like it was a very fun night too! Through tournament entry fees and donations from friends who couldn’t make it, they raised $580! The thought and this picture of the group, makes me smile (and miss my university days)! Thank you Uncle Alex!
Evie. Set. DANCE!
We have officially announced our dance which will be on May 12, 2018! Evelyn will be two months post op after having her SDR surgery in St. Louis and this event will be a time to celebrate her and her journey, thank our supporters and have a fun night! Any proceeds from this event will go toward SDR rehabilitation including others on this SDR journey. Thank you to everyone who has helped with the planning for what will for sure be an awesome night!
Thank you again to everyone for your efforts and support!
You are all part of Evie’s Squad!
