Day 10 & Day 11 – Reinforcement Swap
Our first weekend out of the hospital was a pretty quiet one. Turns out sleeping with big casts on your legs isn’t the easiest as Evie has had two restless nights. We also think she is having nightmares but doesn’t seem to be in pain. Today we managed to get her to have a little cat nap.
On St. Patrick’s Day we wore green and hung around the hotel for the most part. We were able to pick up some special markers to decorate Evie’s casts. She LOVED being able to help colour her “Moon Boots.” We just had to ensure Wes didn’t get a hold of these permanent markers. Brian used his artistic skills while I wrote empowering words. We will keep adding to them as the week goes on.
Today Oma and Opa (Karen and Hans) arrived from Newmarket. They will be staying in St. Louis with us for the rest of our time here and have relieved Grandma and Grandpa (Karen and John) as our reinforcements. Before Grandma and Grandpa left this evening Evie loved having four of her grandparents (she has six) play with her. They played Go Fish and Old Maid and then we all went for a walk of the neighbourhood. Lastly we had delicious pizza at Racanellis down the street. It was nice to all hang out and share our experience so far with Oma and Opa.
THANK YOU Grandma and Grandpa for coming down and helping us so much during the first part of our journey here. We really appreciate your help through it all!! We are excited for Oma and Opa to be here too as we focus on the next half of our stay. Shout out to Granddad and Grandma Rose who are taking such great care of our house while we are away! Miss you guys!
Evie (and us) are so blessed to have such amazing grandparents/parents! Tomorrow is the start of a new week!
