Day 306 – 10 Months Post-Op

Day 306 – 10 Months Post-Op

Happy New Year! Can you believe it is now 2019?! Someone the other day said it was 20 years ago now that it was 1999!   That blows my mind and reminds me that I’m not as young as I sometimes think. Ha! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season!  Our little family saw lots of family, played with friends, enjoyed board games, read a lot of books, battled never ending colds (seems like everyone has been sick), ate…

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Happy Holidays!  2018 is winding down and what a year it has been!! Looking back at the last year it still amazes me everything that happened.  Evie is doing great and continues to develop new skills and strength.   We are so thankful she was able to have SDR though the journey has been overwhelming at times.  From getting to St. Louis, to the surgery itself to the hundreds of hours of therapy, there were some harder times but all the…

Day 275 – 9 Months Post Op

Day 275 – 9 Months Post Op

Tis the season! How is it December already!?  We have been enjoying the holidays for a few weeks now but time is flying (like I always comment in every post. haha).  We have been busy shopping, decorating and making cookies…all the fun holiday stuff!  Our Elf Tinsel (Elf on the Shelf ) has also returned and the kids have been enjoying looking for her each day.  We also went and watched our local parade and tree lighting and visited Santa at…

Day 245 – 8 Months Post Op

Day 245 – 8 Months Post Op

Evie was 8 months post-op on November 7th.  The fall is always a busy time of year (hence this is a bit late) but it has been a fun couple of weeks! We are zoo members and October is their Member’s Appreciation Month.  This means we get to bring guests in with us for FREE!  We went a few times including with two sets of Evie’s Aunts and Uncles.  The animals are always more active in the fall and we saw…

One Year Ago

One Year Ago

One year ago (minus a day), we launched Evie’s SDR fundraising campaign.  I had worked for hours on her video, picking the best pictures and clips, hoping I was sharing the right message.  I learned to build a website and started my blog.  With the help of Brian, we created our GoFundMe page after we had all the details we needed.  A lot of this was done for a few weeks but we were hesitant on publishing it. We waited…

Day 214 – 7 Months Post-Op

Day 214 – 7 Months Post-Op

To our fellow Canadians, Happy Thanksgiving!  We hope you are enjoying this long weekend and spending time with those you love (and hopefully enjoying some yummy food).  Thanksgiving is a holiday where we get to spend time with our families and friends, get an extra day off and reflect on what we are thankful for (though we try and do this all year round).  This year we have so much to be thankful for and this includes Evie being able…

World CP Day!

World CP Day!

Today is World CP Day! World CP Day is now a day in our calendar that our family participates in.  This day was created to celebrate the 17 million people worldwide who have cerebral palsy.  A day to celebrate all of their accomplishments as well as those who support them.  World CP Day is also about ensuring that people with CP have the same opportunities, rights and access as other members of their community and growing overall awareness about this…

Day 184 – 6 Months Post-Op

Day 184 – 6 Months Post-Op

It has officially been 6 months since Evie had her SDR surgery.  Half a year!! Wow! The last month has been a whirlwind! There was another intensive, another week of camp, swimming lessons, camping with friends, a family reunion, zoo trips, play dates, a birthday party, 54 month assessment, the SDR picnic, orthodic adjustments and Evie started Junior Kindergarten!! The last two weeks have been lighter in terms of therapy.  We all needed a bit of a break.  This week…

SDR Picnic

SDR Picnic

Last Sunday was the 3rd Annual SDR Picnic.  We attended last year for the first time.  It was before we even knew if we wanted to move forward with SDR.  It was a great way for us to gather information from other families who were on their own SDR journey (and at different stages).  It was a chance to connect in person with some people I had only talked to online.  It was also a fun event! As soon as…

Day 153 – 5 Months Post-Op

Day 153 – 5 Months Post-Op

Another month has come and gone since my last blog post.  Wowza!  If you follow us on Facebook or Instagram (@being_e_cp), you have seen some of the fun things Evie has been up to over the last month.  July was jam packed!  There was a wedding up north, camping at a provincial park, a week of intensive therapy, a week of camp at March of Dimes, birthday parties, swimming lessons, Splash N’ Boots concert, physio and a few play dates.  We…
